We are uncovering better ways of developing software by doing it and helping others do it. Through this work we have come to value:

Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
Working software over comprehensive documentation
Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
Responding to change over following a plan

That is, while there is value in the items on the right, we value the items on the left more.

Ben Linders: (Ben Linders) All the projects that I have managed or worked in have applied techniques that are now considered agile, like iterative development, frequent feedback from customers, time boxing, pair programming, and test driven design. I have also done process improvement projects in an agile way. Agile works, and it's a fun way to work and deliver value to customers!
Jason Davis: I am a new agile practitioner and have found the principles highly valuable and in line with todays needs.

"Change is the only constant" held true for most of projects I've worked on, whether big enterprise undertakings as a member of a large team in a corporation, bootstraping a startup or building a web application for a non-technical client as a freelancer. Agile methodologies acknowledge this and attempt to manage the risk.
