  • Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
  • Working software over comprehensive documentation
  • Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
  • Responding to change over following a plan

That is, while there is value in the items on the right, we value the items on the left more.

Dmitry Nazarenko: Agile methodologies are great because they have, since the late 90s, made the software industry and technical project management practices evolve at (more or less) the same pace as technologies themselves. They now allow for a rather large project to be built leveraging the speed and efficiencies software is capable of, contrary to traditional engineering and project management which is a very establish skill and industry.
