Independent Signatories of
The Manifesto for Agile Software Development

We are uncovering better ways of developing software by doing it and helping others do it. Through this work we have come to value:

Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
Working software over comprehensive documentation
Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
Responding to change over following a plan

That is, while there is value in the items on the right, we value the items on the left more.

Peter E. C. Dashwood: I have been using these principles since the late nineties and arrived at them independently, by thinking about how RAD could be improved and what the underlying essential elements were that made it successful (when it was successful). After managing and working on development projects for many years using the Waterfall in mainly mainframe environments, and early forms of RAD for network developments, I came to believe there HAD to be a better way... The Agile Manifesto has it right.
